Freya has studied jewelry design in New York
with Bettina Sturm (formerly of Tiffany), Shimon Khaloun and others at the Fashion Institute of Technology.
She has studied bead research with the late
Peter Francis and Bernadette Mahfood. She is a member of The Bead Society of Greater New York, the Bead Society of Greater
Washington, the Bead Museum and is one of the founders of The NY Polymer Clay Guild.
Her classic line incorporates gemstones often
hand-knotted on silk or linen. Ornaments include cloisonné and beads from Asia and the Middle East.
Her ethnic line incorporates gemstones, vintage
glass, African trade beads and unusual ornaments fabricated throughout the world.
Love of travel to exotic locations presents
opportunities to obtain such beads and ornaments first hand. Her pieces include treasures personally collected in India,
West and North Africa and Latin America.
Her work has been exhibited at New York's
Fashion Institute of Technology, the New York Crafts Museum and at the Buyers' Market of American Craft in Philadelphia and
Austin. It is available at some of Manhattan's better boutiques, Kent, Connecticut's Northwest Corner Artisans Gallery and
at her semi-annual shows.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Art History
from the University of Arizona and a Certificate in Millinery at the Fashion Institute of Technology.
